Alex lost the use of his right leg in 2013 after an injury sustained whilst serving in the British Army required emergency surgery to remove herniated discs in his spine.

His first ever experience of skiing was through the Battle Back programme for wounded soldiers in 2016 during his four years of rehabilitation. He joined the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team in 2017. Taking the opportunity provided by AFPST, he set his sights on learning to ski race and represent Great Britain at the Paralympic Games.

Alex progressed well and was selected for the GB Team at the 2021 and 2023 World Championships and also achieved his goal of being selected to the GB Team for the 2022 Paralympic Games in Beijing.
