Sam started skiing when he was three years old on family holidays in Les Deux Alpes. From an early age Sam competed in both freestyle and alpine however from around the age of twelve freestyle took over when he joined the Les Duex Alpes freestyle club. Sam still competes in the LSERSA and GBR dry-slope circuit during the off-season. After successfully taking the British age category halfpipe title four years running he decided that he would concentrate on halfpipe skiing.

He trains with Ben Boyd (Summit Action Sports) in Colorado during the winter seasons and then chases the winter by heading to Cardrona, New Zealand for their winter season. He regularly competes in the US circuit in the Rev Tour Elite and Nor-Am Cup competitions and recently competed in his first World Cup which was held in Calgary during the 2020 winter season.

Sam made his Junior World Championships debut in Cardrona in 2018 where he placed 8th in the qualifying round and then narrowly missed out on a top ten finish placing 11th. Also grabbing 33rd in his first World Cup. The main inspiration that Sam has used was from a previous Pipe skier Simon Dumont who was one of the main innovators and pioneers of Halfpipe and freestyle skiing in general, Sam managed to meet face to face with Simon in Park City, Utah during the 2019 winter season.
