PICK WINS FIRST CRYSTAL GLOBE IN BANKED SLALOM

GB Snowsport Para snowboarder Owen Pick wins his first ever crystal globe in the new discipline of Banked Slalom.

Pick was confirmed as the winner of the Crystal Globe after taking gold in Hafjell, Norway. This gold came off the back of two wins in La Molina two weeks ago. These were Owen’s first ever gold medals in a World Cup event.

Coming into the event the closest rival for the Globe was Australia’s Ben Tudhope who did not make the podium meaning Pick leapfrogged him in the rankings and took top spot.

Speaking after the event on his gold medal Pick said: “Hafjell was super rad and the racing was really tight. I was really feeling the pressure toward the semi finals and in the finals but it came off for me and I made it happen.”

On being announced that he was the winner of the globe, Pick added: “I want to say a massive thanks to all the team behind me for all their hard work. Scorge on the board and Sweet and Angus on the coaching dream team.”

Pick’s fellow GB Snowsport athlete came third in Hafjell which left him in third place overall in the boarder cross crystal globe. Andy McLoed had a stormer of a weekend too after returning from injury he has placed 4th in La Molina and in Hafjell he made the finals which capped off a great return to snow.
