GB Snowsport have named three athletes in the squad for this year’s World Para Biathlon Championships in Östersund, Sweden.The event will be held between the 11th – 15th March and will mark the first time since 1990 the World Para Biathlon Championships and the World Para Nordic skiing Championships are held separately.

GB Snowsport have named a three strong squad which includes PyeongChang Paralympian Scott Meenagh as well as the experienced Steven Arnold and it will be the first taste of a biathlon season for Callum Deboys.

The athletes have been entered into all the events in World Para Biathlon Championships in Östersund. Speaking about their inclusion in the squad the three GB Snowsport athletes said:

Scott Meenagh: “I am very excited to be selected for the World Championships team in Sweden. I can’t wait to be there and racing at the first ever Biathlon World Championships. It’s an enormous privilege to represent my country on the world stage.”

Steven Arnold: “To be selected for the ever Para Biathlon World Championships is a massive honour. I’m looking forward to going up against the best biathletes in the world and putting a marker in the snow with which I can build on going into the next season and selection for the 2022 Paralympic Games.” 

Callum Deboys: “It’s a great feeling to be competing in the Biathlon World Championships in my first season competing in biathlon. It’s a testament to all the hard work and dedication that I and my team have put into this season.”

The Championships 2020 in Östersund will be an important step in the future of the biathlon sport and it will give the athletes more competition opportunities during the season.
