Born in Chamonix to British parents, Mathi joined Les Houches ski club aged five and raced alpine for a number of years. Eligible for French citizenship at 14, Mathi raced for France until 2016 when an injury forced him out of the French squad. Since then he has competed under a British license and made the move from alpine to ski cross last summer.

After a couple of top 10 results at the 2018 Australia New Zealand Cup, Mathi finished 16th at the Junior World Championships in New Zealand and 2018/19 is his first Europa Cup season in ski cross.. This winter I am planning on doing the full Europa Cup programme in Skicross.

Mathi is inspired by Ken Roczen, a young German motocross/supercross athlete due to his ability to combine hard work and fun. During the off-season Mathi enjoys dirtbiking around the mountains as well as getting out and cycling on the road.
