At the age of 2 years old, Robert first experienced skiing with his family whilst on their annual winter ski holiday in Schladming, Austria. From this point, his passion for skiing saw him attend Pendle ski club on a weekly basis, spending many hours skiing in the public ski lessons and progressing through various classes. At the age of 7 Robert was invited to join the race squad at Pendle, for whom he represented at many competitions around the country, collecting national titles and awards.

Robert’s skiing was developing rapidly, and in 2013 Robert started training at the Castleford indoor snowdome with SZ Racing to develop his skiing skills on snow. He soon began to race at the indoor snowdomes gaining valuable experience on a different surface, and year after year Robert's results steadily improved.

The lure of a “real” mountain environment was calling Robert and in 2015 he competed in his first British alpine race in the Cairngorms, Scotland and after a steady debut he returned a couple of weeks later to win the U14 category. Robert caught the bug of competing in an outdoor mountain environment, travelling to Les Houches, France, to compete at the Anglo Scottish Championships. Robert’s performance here was equally as good and he found himself again on the podium against tough competition in only his 3rd ever alpine race.

Robert continued to race on the British alpine circuit, travelling with his father to several competitions and as his achievements grew bigger, several offers to train with academies were presented. After experiencing a taster week with Team Evolution Race Academy in Austria, Robert signed onto their annual programme and has subsequently grasped this amazing opportunity to take his skiing to the next level.

Robert’s first year with Team Evolution in 2016 enabled him to improve technically, and with this his results improved further, picking up podiums at the Team Evolution Speed Races and the English Alpine Championships as a first year U16. In his second year on the programme Robert has continued to achieve success on both the artificial slopes and on snow. He started the season winning the Overall Male GBR Series on dry slope and ended it being crowned the Overall U16 British Alpine Champion at Tignes, France.

As part of the Team Evolution Programme Robert is able to continue his academic studies in Austria, enabling him to find a balance between skiing and his education, recently completing his GCSE’s. Robert is now embarking on making the transition from children’s ski racing to FIS whilst beginning his A-Levels, and welcomes the exciting new challenges which lie ahead as part of the British Team.
